The Pinciano district is located between Via Flaminia and Via Salaria and is an elegant area that extends around Villa Borghese, characterized by very popular museums and gardens. The northern area of the neighborhood, however, almost borders on the Parioli Mountains: a good part of it, in fact, is part of the Parioli in the common toponymy of the Romans, although formally it is the Pinciano neighborhood. The neighborhood has always been occupied by vineyards and villas, from Villa Borghese and Villa Giulia, the oldest, Villa Sacchetti, Villa Balestra, Villa Pallavicini and Villa Caetani were soon added. The first subdivision of the neighborhood began with the creation of Via Po, in 1907, built with stately villas while the construction of the Monti Parioli area began after 1908. In 1911 the Avenue of Fine Arts was built which led to the Zoological Garden and the National Gallery of Modern Art. From that moment on, various Foreign Academies arose in the area, the first of which was the British Academy. To the north, however, towards Viale Liège, Piazza Verdi opened up, occupied by the large building of the Polygraphic Institute of the State Mint.
